The long argued history about the “Scramble for Africa” has been a very significant moment in the history of the African continent. In August of 1882, Great Britain began its occupation of the region of Egypt; historians have long argued the questions of “How?” and“Why?” the British did this. The trail of evidence leaves many to piece together that the answer to these questions lies in the building of the Suez Canal, the investments that European finaciarieshad in Egypt, the economic downfall of Egypt, and military intervention that called for a European powers involvement contributed to Britain's occupation of Egypt.
