As part of the advanced year field placement, MSW candidates drafted grant proposals. On behalf of my practicum agency, Healthy Adventures Foundation (HAF), I decided to write a real grant that was submitted to an actual funding source known as the San Marcos Community Foundation. With support from my field instructor and three other classmates, our grant proposal resulted in an award of $1,500 for a 10-month long Healthy Lifestyle Program. In partnership with the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE), this program began serving the local Migrant Education youth population in April of 2018. The usefulness of grand funding bolstered SDCOE's confidence in HAF and SDCOE then wrote HAF into a 5-year contract to provide additional community wellness services.
