In this monument we have Edward F. Beale and Kit Carson, two out of the three individuals responsible with contacting American forces at San Diego to relief the surrounded Americans at Mule hill. The Battle of San Pasqual was the biggest engagement in modern day California between the Californios and American forces called the "Army of the West", in the Mexican American War of 1846-48. This initial engagement occurred in 6th of December 1846 and ended the following day at Mule hill 7th of December 1846. Notable figures of this Stephen W. Kearny, Andres Pico, Archibald Gillespie, Kit Carson, and Edward Beale. This is my first setting in my historical internship, my experience here allowed me to see alternative work besides choosing a career in education.
